Provisional pre-endodontic restoration

This clinical protocol illustrates a simplified and highly effective method using a provisional pre-endodontic build-up, ideal for single-visit endodontic treatment.
Clinical Workflow:
• First, rubber dam is applied to a tooth with a structural defect – this approach is only applicable in supragingival or paragingival cases, where proper isolation is possible.
• After secure isolation, we perform complete caries removal and prepare the access cavity.
• Then we place a quick provisional build-up, without etching or bonding.
Materials used: liquid dam or barrier from whitening kits.

What this build-up provides:
• A quick, simple and cost-effective way to create a clean and well-shaped access cavity – using minimal time, materials and effort, while keeping the entire workflow efficient.
• Prevents irrigant leakage from the tooth into the patient’s mouth, ensuring safety and comfort during the entire procedure.
After completing the endodontic treatment, the provisional build-up is removed, and we proceed with the final post-endodontic restoration – which serves as the first and only adhesive step in the entire process.
Why we use this approach:
• Fast, simple, and cost-effective
• Avoids unnecessary double bonding
• Improves clinical efficiency
• Perfectly suited for single-visit endodontics
